Conservatives you need to know about: Vernon Robinson, North Carolina

As we go into 2012, one of the things we need to be grateful for is the amazing number of really good conservatives we have running for office.   Unfortunately, many of them do not get the coverage they deserve.

Vernon Robinson from North Carolina is one of those conservatives we should pay attention to.

Robinson is a former United States Air Force Officer who now lives near Concord, North Carolina.

Robinson has an MBA that he earned from the University of Missouri while on active duty with the Air Force.  He has been involved in North Carolina politics since the 90’s.    Robinson has been compared to the late North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms.   In fact, the left wing Raleigh News and Observer newspaper called him Jesse Helms’ spiritual heir.

Now, Robinson is running in North Carolina’s eighth congressional district.

The eighth congressional district in North Carolina stretches from the suburbs of Charlotte all the way over to Fayetteville.    Larry Kissell is the current congressman for the eighth district.

To call Kissell liberal would be an understatement.   There are a multitude of groups that rate congressmen and senators on their voting records and they all show that Larry Kissell is a very liberal congressman.

How liberal?

In 2010, the American Conservative Union gave him only an 8% score.   The Club for Growth was more generous giving him 24% and Americans for Prosperity gave him 25%.

Of course, Kissell’s 8% score is a little better than Nancy Pelosi’s 0% score.

Why is Vernon Robinson important?

Most people have never heard of him.   We need to change that.  Vernon Robinson is important because he is a conservative who can take away a liberal seat in Congress.

While Nancy Pelosi remains delusional in thinking that the Democrats have a shot at taking the House back in 2012, the Republicans still need to take as many seats as they can to protect the majority and to force the Democrats into a permanent minority in the House.

We also need more conservatives in the House.  John Boehner is not a conservative.  He is a moderate and a terrible leader.  We are going to have to replace him.  Moderates will not vote to replace Boehner.  It will take a lot of conservatives coming in to replace him.

2012 will be the most important election we have ever seen.  We must get a conservative nominated to be the Republican candidate for President and we must get him or her elected.   But as important as the race for the White House will be, we must not forget the important congressional and senatorial races.   If we are going to undo the damage the Obama, Pelosi, Reid axis of fiscal evil has done, we must get good conservatives elected.  We must make the Congressional class of 2012 and the Senate Class of 2012 the most conservative Washington has ever seen.
